Ventflix: What’s on in your city, booked in a tap
Ventflix is an events platform we built: people pick a city and see what’s on right now, today and this week, book free or paid tickets, and add events to their calendar, while organisers list events, sell tickets and check guests in at the door.
Finding something to do in a Nigerian city still means scrolling Instagram flyers, WhatsApp statuses and group chats. Dates are buried in images, and by the time you see an event it has often passed.
Organisers have the opposite problem. They post flyers everywhere, collect payments by bank transfer, keep guest lists in spreadsheets and check people in by name at a busy door.
Ventflix needed to be one place for both: a clear, fast guide to what’s on, and the tools an organiser needs from listing to the last guest through the door.
What we built
We built Ventflix, a web app with two worlds: Entertainment for nights out, shows and parties, and Corporate for work, learning and networking. Each city has its own feed, filtered by time, category and search. Organisers create one-off or repeating events with ticket types and capacity, take payment through Paystack, see who is coming on a dashboard and scan tickets at the door.
Inside the build
- City feeds: Published events for each city, filtered to right now, today, this week, this month or everything coming up, by category and by search, shown in the city’s own time zone.
- Tickets with QR codes: Every booking has a QR code and an 8-character code for the door, and guests can give a ticket back if plans change.
- Add to calendar: One tap to Google Calendar or an .ics file for any other calendar.
- Picked for you: Interests chosen at sign-up shape the front page, and a digest of what’s on in your city lands in the inbox.
- Repeating events: A weekly or monthly night lists the next date automatically with fresh bookings, and keeps its photos and reviews from week to week.
- Door check-in: Organisers type a code or scan the QR code with the phone camera, and see who has arrived as it happens.
- Organiser pages: A public page with picture, bio, social links and everything coming up.
- Admin approvals: New events and changes are reviewed with a before and after, with an auto-approve switch for trusted organisers.
